Merry Christmas & a Prosperous New Year to Everyone

e trust that you are all well and have had an eventful 2002; it seems to have gone by so quickly and we do not seem to have enough news of the year to put in this letter; however, let us see how we get on:

he beginning of
2002 saw us heavily involved with the local Pantomime, ‘Dick Whittington &
his Cat’; this seemed to go very well. We are now well into rehearsals for next
year when the Pantomime is ‘Aladdin’ which starts on 15th February
2003. We now have a web site ( www.herefordpantomime.org
) if anyone is interested and have the necessary technology.

ian & Steve
continue to enjoy married life in Ilford, just east of London. Sian has been
across to Switzerland on a number of occasions this year, and even once to
Norway, as she is now involved in bookings over there. Steve continues to
progress with Dagenham Council and is looking for another post, possibly
outside of the London area.

atrin is still on
her Music Therapy course, which concludes in the New Year. She is at home, in
Tooting, with Nick from where she travels to her various placements. Nick
works, in the laboratory, as a technician in the research department of one of
London’s hospitals. He is building a reputation for his reliable and dependant
good work, which will stand him in good stead when he moves on in his career.

renda continues
working for the Revenue and, in her spare time remains involved very much with
the dog showing. She also continues with her singing, though this year she did
not sing in the Three Choirs Festival. She does, however, hope to be singing in
it in 2003 when Hereford is the host City. Brenda bred a fine litter of nine
pups, in August, from our little bitch called ‘Morgan’; they were all very
healthy and all but one has now gone to new homes that we will be keeping in
touch with regularly. Unfortunately we lost our foundation bitch, ‘Emmi’, who
was only just over seven years old. The pup that we’re keeping will replace her
and is called ‘Gwenni’. Emmi was a great loss to us.
In March Brenda
showed the dogs at Crufts and we also manned the ‘Discover Dogs’ stand for
Cartdigan Welsh Corgis. In May we towed the caravan up to Edinburgh, for a dog
show and also to see our family who live near Dunbar – always a lovely trip.
Our young dog, ‘Cadi’ won his first Challenge Certificate this year – two
more and he becomes a ‘Champion’; Brenda is ever so proud of him!

avid has had
quite a lot of ‘to’ing and ‘fro’ing between Aberystwyth and Hereford – he is
one of the Trustees looking after Kenneth Miller’s life since his father, David
Miller, died in 2001. You may remember him as Barbara’s (ne Meehan) husband.
Kenneth is autistic and is now 43. It is hoped that a local Housing Association
will purchase the house, allowing him to remain, as a tenant, in his home –
this is all being done, with the cooperation of his carers, so that he can
still enjoy the freedoms that he has always been accustomed to in Aberystwyth.
All very complicated but I believe that we shall eventually get there.
David was able to
go, with a combined coir from our team ministry, and sing at Buckfast Abbey, in
Devon, over one weekend in September. Brenda stayed at home looking after
puppies. It was a good weekend and everyone hopes that these combined events
will continue in the future.
David continues
to work (mainly mornings), as Treasurer, with Hereford City Council. (www.herefordcitycouncil.gov.uk
for those with the technology). He also continues to attempt to look into his
genealogy; however this has proved quite difficult during 2002 and he hopes to
‘get on with it’ in 2003. Dave also continues tinkering with his computer and
web page building – two more sites for those with the tech. :
www.tyci.co.uk - for thoses interested in our
three Cardigan Welsh Corgis
www.piears.co.uk - for those interested in
the family name of Piears.
We are now
preparing for Christmas, of course, with the carol service of Nine Lessons
& Carols on 15th. It will, once again, also be recorded on the
local hospital radio – live I think.
